Bilingual Event.

In Summer 2020, Vanier's first ArtPod appeared on the parking lot of the Vanier Community Service Centre via the Neighbourhood Arts Ottawa artist residency program. This year, the Vanier Community Service Centre, Vanier Community Association and Quartier Vanier BIA joined forces to expand the "parking lot community hub" which currently has three ArtPods and awaiting more exciting makeovers.

On Friday August 13, artist Kseniya Tsoy and local community members will be painting the parking lot railing to mark the boundaries of this unique community hub. Join in the community art experience and leave your mark!

This event is being organized as a companion to Cultures Vanier: Cultural Citizen Forum. When asked about the future Vanier of their dreams, many residents expressed a desire to see:

  • Indoor and outdoor spaces that bring people together.
  • Arts and cultural events and projects that celebrate Vanier’s cultural diversity and wealth.
  • Engagement and commitment to Truth and Reconciliation with First Nations, Inuit, and Metis by celebrating the beauty of Indigenous cultures and recognizing the long tradition that has survived on this unceded and unsurrendered Algonquin Territory.

This event is presented as part of the Neighbourhood Arts Ottawa Symposium: Blueprints for a hopeful future, with pop-up community arts events and artworks happening online and across Ottawa August 3 – 29, 2021. For more information, click here.
